We invite applications for the position of Biomedical Data Manager, to work full-time in support of new initiatives in Health and Biomedical Informatics and the new informatics-based MSc programme in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.
Reporting to the Professor of Health and Biomedical Informatics, the Biomedical Data Manager will be responsible for coordinating and managing access and use of UK Biobank and biomedical data from other third parties to support the activities within the new MSc programme. You will support academic users and students to access these data and be responsible for meeting data compliance Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and legislation.

The post will involve:
- Supporting students in installing course software, such as R environment, Cytoscape and others, and use clear communication skills to provide user training when needed.
- Acting as the main point of contact for external data suppliers, such as the UK Biobank, and overseeing the use and dissemination of access to data for the programme and Faculty members.
- Supporting students and staff in accessing and using UK BioBank data via a Research Analysis Platform
- Contributing to the design and development of study databases and undertaking, and/or supporting study-specific teams to undertake, routine data management tasks.
- Maintaining expert knowledge of university/external/professional regulations relating to data management.
We are looking for:
- A focussed and customer service approach to delivering a service.
- Experience of successfully working within a similar role.
- Excellent IT skills, particularly in BASH, Python, and database software.
- Experience of proactively planning and progressing work activities within general guidelines
- Ability to problem solve in relation to less routine activities.
- Work to assuredly to meet targets within set time frames.
