About the Role

Arts Teaching Innovation (ATI) in the Faculty of Arts is an established specialist team of teaching and learning practitioners who bring pedagogical expertise and support to undergraduate and graduate teaching within the Faculty and across its five schools. Its core focus areas are Curriculum Design and Development, the implementation of transformative learning strategies, and the delivery of Experiential Learning and Object Based Learning

Working under the direction of the Director of Arts Teaching Innovation and in collaboration with Curriculum Designers and Experiential Learning Professional staff, as the Teaching Specialist, you will play a significant role in driving curriculum development, design, delivery, and evaluation in the field of Experiential Learning. You will directly contribute to teaching within Experiential Learning in the humanities and social sciences including subject coordination.

Responsibilities include:

• Teaching the Faculty based suite of undergraduate Experiential Learning subjects.
• Supervising and supporting students through their placements and research projects.
• Actively engaging in scholarly activity to support, enable and disseminate teaching practice.
• Liaising with host organisations and partners in the development of research projects and case studies.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have the capacity to contribute to the production of publications relating to teaching pedagogies in the humanities and social sciences. You will have excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as a member of a team as well as liaise and work effectively with a range of people across all levels of the organisation. You will also have experience in teaching diverse groups of students including a sophisticated understanding of the learning needs of students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

You will also have:

• A PhD in a humanities or social sciences discipline.
• Demonstrated capacity to deliver outcomes in Experiential Learning.
• Ability to initiate, develop and make recommendations in relation to learning design in curriculum development, delivery, and assessment, with a particular emphasis on active learning pedagogies.
• A sound understanding of HASS Experiential Learning pedagogy including simulations, case teaching, placement and project-based learning methodologies.
• Proven record of mentoring and supporting students.
