Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for Research Associate (Master’s degree) or Research Fellow (PhD) in the Singapore Chinese Health Study, which is housed in the Healthy Longevity Translational Research Programme, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Singapore Chinese Health Study (SCHS) integrates rigorous prospective study design, comprehensive measurements of lifestyle and genetic factors, and complete capture of disease incidence and mortality for epidemiologic research in the risk of important chronic diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, tuberculosis disease and gout. This Cohort represents a unique constellation of strengths that includes a well-defined and motivated study population with nearly complete follow-up, high quality data, strong expertise in epidemiologic research, and an Asian setting that importantly complements studies conducted in western countries.

Appointments will be made on a 2-year contract basis, with the possibility of an extension for another 2 years.

Purpose of the post

The Research Associate or Research Fellow will work as the data manager of the Cohort, and also have opportunities to analyze data and publish papers in areas of research in chronic diseases and healthy ageing in Singapore.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Associate or Research Fellow will be able to:

  1. Oversee the general data management of the project;
  2. Provide administrative support to the project, such as organizing regular meetings to maintain regular communication with collaborators;
  3. Conduct research and prepare manuscripts using data from the cohort;
  4. Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.

Qualifications

The applicant should:

  • Have a Master’s degree or PhD training in epidemiology;
  • have knowledge of computer applications for statistical analysis
  • have co-authored papers in epidemiology
