The School of International Studies is now seeking exceptional scholars to join us as Associate Professors / Professors in the fields of International Studies.

About the School

As the School of International Studies enters a period of growth, we are looking for a talented scholar to help develop our emerging field of interest in both applied social sciences and History.

A marriage of the University of Nottingham United Kingdom’s School of History and School of Politics and International Relations, we have a decidedly British approach to international relations, paired with strengths in international and transnational history. With 15 academic staff members from thirteen different countries, IS is the most international School at UNNC and possibly all of China.

About You

We are interested in hearing from candidates with expertise and research interests in general social sciences preferably social and public policy; imperial, European and International history while demonstrating ability to contribute to the broader interdisciplinarity of international studies. Candidates will be expected to have diverse interest in global public policy and governance, including but not limited to health policy, public and comparative administration, policy theory, social policy, innovation and technology policy and big data, European and Imperial History.

Candidates must evidence ability to teach core and specialist courses in areas of social and public policy or International History. They should demonstrate ability to contribute to the broader teaching in International Studies, which includes interdisciplinary modules in International Relations, Political Science, History, and other subjects. Equally attractive will be someone with a track record in policy analysis, implementation and evaluation.

Also required is a clear, well developed and viable strategy for future outstanding research that has the potential to result in grant capture and world-leading publications. Active contribution to the Center for Advanced International Studies and university key research priorities areas in Sustainable development will also be expected.

Successful candidate will be offered a five-year contract that may be extended by mutual agreement.
