Applications are invited for a Permanent Full-Time OR Permanent Part-Time (half-time / 0.5fte) post of a Technical Officer or Senior Technical Officer within UCD School of Biology and Environmental Science.

Applicants are invited to apply for the post of Technical Officer OR Senior Technical Officer with the UCD School of Biology & Environmental Science. The School offers a diverse portfolio of programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including BSc degrees in Cell & Molecular Biology, Environmental Biology, Plant Biology and Zoology and taught MSc degrees in Biological and Biomolecular Science, Applied Environmental Science, Environmental Sustainability (Online) and Global Change Biology. The successful candidate will join the current team of technical staff and will provide support for both the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities including preparation and tidying of laboratories for classes. In addition, the appointee will be required to support the research programmes in the School in the general areas of molecular biology and genetics, engaging in relevant activities in the laboratory including training of students and researchers as necessary. As a Technical Officer, the appointee is expected to have knowledge of, and some experience of supporting research activities in a lab environment, as well as familiarity in the care and maintenance of scientific equipment. As a Senior Technical Officer, the appointee is expected to have extensive demonstrated `hands-on' experience in a laboratory setting within a university, or similar, environment. The candidate may be required to undertake other duties as requested by the Chief Technical Officer I or Head of School from time to time, that are commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.

95 Technical Officer\2013 Salary scale: 42,970 - 56,784 per annum pro-rata

95 Senior Technical Officer\2013 Salary scale: 51,058 - 68,223 per annum pro-rata

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
