Job Description:

The School of Arts, English and Languages (AEL) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Lecturer in Liberal Arts. The post holder will deliver effective teaching and learning in Liberal Arts and research in a relevant subject area at undergraduate and postgraduate level. You will also contribute to the School’s/area’s administration/outreach activity.  

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:

  • A PhD or about to obtain a PhD in a relevant subject e.g., area studies, continental studies, gender studies, migration, diaspora studies, human geography, history, anthropology;
  • Evidence of high-quality publications and research activities relevant to stage of career;
  • Evidence of independent contribution in research projects and outputs;
  • Evidence of scholarly activity, e.g., conferences, peer review, national and international networks;
  • Experience in the delivery of lectures and seminars in area studies, continental studies, gender studies, migration studies and discourses of diaspora would be an advantage; and 
  • Experience of teaching on broader, multi- or interdisciplinary courses (e.g., area studies, continental studies, history and culture, the wider relevance of arts and humanities subjects in contemporary society).
