Job Description

Singapore University of Social Sciences is one of Singapore's six autonomous universities and its mission is to provide lifelong education that equips learners to serve society. Home to more than 15,000 students, SUSS provides an applied education that targets both fresh school leavers and adult learners, with a focus on the social sciences. It adopts a flexible and practice-focused learning approach and offers more than 70 degree programmes in various disciplines.

The SUSS School of Law is a law school with a unique mission: to provide a pipeline of practitioners to the Family and the Criminal Bar.  To this end, the SUSS law programmes are geared towards the practice of law and have a strong applied focus.  Unique among the law schools of Singapore is the extremely diverse student body where a class may have a student fresh out of school sitting alongside a business executive of many decades experience.  The law school aims to meet the students where they are to guide them to where they need to be in order to practice at the Bar here in Singapore.

The School of Law is looking to hire someone with litigation experience, or someone who is comfortable to teach across a range of disciplines including Property Law, Equity and Trusts and Mediation.

The responsibilities of full-time faculty members include teaching and developing courses, conducting academic and/or applied research, and being involved in activities in the service of SUSS and outside of SUSS that may include outreach to industry and involvement in industry projects.  The appointment will be for an initial period of 3 years.

Job Requirements

  • A postgraduate degree, or a undergraduate degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant legal practice experience
  • SMC Mediation accreditation would be an advantage
  • Applicants with teaching and/or working experience in the relevant area will have an added advantage
