Job Description:

The School of Medicine, Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences (MDBS) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Assistant within the Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research.    

The successful candidate will undertake and assist in the planning and delivery of research activities with laboratory based investigations aiming to develop CT-based radiomics imaging methods for the early detection of colorectal cancer liver. The project will involve the development of in vivo models and computational analysis of preclinical CT datasets towards the development of early detection imaging biomarkers.   

The postholder will work as part of an interdisciplinary, cross border team in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and funded through the Higher Education Authority. The role will directly support the development of the project and strengthen collaborative links with RCSI. The Research Assistant will also be expected to contribute to the supervision of junior members of the team, including undergraduates and to make an active contribution to developing the profile of the research group.

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:

  • Degree or equivalent in subject relevant to research activity
  • Some practical experience of applying specialist skills and techniques required for the role.

This post is fixed term for up to 10 months. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
