We are seeking a highly motivated individual to contribute to the development and teaching of Geology modules at undergraduate levels. Your contribution will be central to delivery, assessment and student support across our growing Geology and Environmental Geoscience programmes. The ideal candidate will have a potential disciplinary focus across hard rock petrology, volcanology, structural geology or geological mapping. Your skills in digital geoscience (particularly GIS) will be much welcomed in the role.
The School of Ocean and Earth Science (SOES) is based at the National Oceanography Centre Southampton Waterfront Campus, a hub for world-class facilities and marine technology. Based in the Geology and Geophysics Research Group, you will join a dynamic team of geologists, geophysicists, oceanographers, and biologists delivering high quality, interactive curricula across all areas of the School’s portfolio. The Geology and Geophysics Research Group is renowned for its expertise the evolution of plate tectonics, geohazard assessment, coastal erosion processes and quantitative geoscience approaches to Earth science problems.
This is a full time, fixed term post of 2 years starting around September 1st 2023.
You will have teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. Experience of field teaching and data analysis for a broad range of students would be desirable. You will have a PhD (to include thesis submission or awaiting viva) or equivalent professional qualification.
