Curriculum Officer (at the rank of Assistant Lecturer/Tutor) in the Centre for Advancement of Chinese Language Education and Research (CACLER) within the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 519705) (to commence as soon as possible for 12 months, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in language education, or a Bachelor’s degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education or equivalent, with at least 8 years of experience in teaching and learning of Chinese for local primary or secondary students, and/or related experience in conducting educational research or teacher training. Priority will be given to those who have research experience in the field of Chinese language education or Chinese reading literacy projects.

The appointee will work on a project on developing a digitalized reading platform that aims to enhance primary school students’ online reading competence in accordance with the objectives of Hong Kong Chinese language curriculum and leading international online reading assessments, and to improve teachers’ capacity to teach and assess online reading competence of primary school students. He/She will assist the Principal Investigator in providing support to participating primary schools and teachers, coordinating and preparing teacher professional development training and research activities, developing teaching resource materials, conducting interviews and focus groups, managing teachers’ learning circles, giving advices on teaching strategies, and writing up reports, and perform other duties as assigned.
