About the opportunity

The Research Integrity Team are looking for an exceptional Research Integrity Officer to join them for a 1-year contract! This team is committed to working with researchers at the University of Sydney to assist with conducting their studies in accordance with the relevant legislation, codes, and guidelines.

As a Research Integrity Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the operations of the research integrity group. You will provide administrative and executive support in the management of research related complaints and allegations in accordance with relevant policies.

Reporting to the Research Integrity Manager, your key responsibilities will be to:

• provide high-level support for the operations of the research integrity office, managing research integrity complaints and allegations of research misconduct
• develop professional relationships with the university community and with key stakeholders
• formulate and implement processes to streamline aspects of research integrity processes
• handle general enquiries about research integrity via email, telephone or face-to-face
• advise and guide researchers about responsible research practice
• champion key initiatives to build a culture of responsible research practice.

About you

• tertiary qualification in a relevant field and extensive relevant experience (e.g. in an administration or research support role)
• excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication coupled with strong problem-solving skills
• an understanding of the range of issues relating to research in the Australian higher education system
• high level analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and proactively address complex issues
• demonstrated ability to take initiative, prioritise workload and work within agreed timelines
• knowledge of the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, related policies and an understanding of the regulatory environment governing research integrity, or the ability to acquire this knowledge rapidly
• experience delivering effective communications to a variety of stakeholder groups, including the preparation of formal reports.

Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. For a continuing position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident. Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
