Gulf University for Science & Technology, Kuwait is seeking to appoint a new Head of the Department and Faculty of Mass Communication to build on the Department’s success and reputation as a key influencer in the critique and development. The post holder will have the opportunity to devise and deliver an ambitious strategy to develop the Department’s world-class teaching, student experience and research output. The Head of the Department will play a leading role in managing key stakeholder relationships and cultivating international networks and partners. The position will start from Fall 2023.

Minimum Qualifications:

The applicant must have a Ph.D. in Mass Communication or closely related field with an active research record (preferably in Public Relations/Strategic Communication) from a reputable North American (U.S. or Canada) or European university. The ideal candidate shall hold an academic rank, at the level of Associate or Full professor; have good academic conduct; demonstrated excellence in teaching, research, and service; assumed previous administrative roles and/or major service activities at the departmental, college, or university levels; possess communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills as evidenced by professional development certification, and/or prior experience, such as managing people, chairing committees, mentoring faculty and/or senior students, etc. The State of Kuwait does not recognize degrees from online universities. 

Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) 

Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) was established in 2002 as Kuwait's first private American-model liberal arts university and is affiliated with the Missouri University of Science and Technology (MS&T) & UMSL. GUST currently offers several programs in Arts and Sciences and Business, including an MBA degree. GUST is internationally accredited by various bodies, including ABET/CAC (Computer Science), ACA (Mass Communication), AACSB (Business), NOSS (Foundation Program Unit), and CEA (Foundation Program in English). ABET/EAC accreditation will be sought for the Computer Engineering program.
