Job description

The Perelman Centre is recruiting one full-time assistant in global law, comparative law, European law, legal theory or human rights. This is an interim contract of one year, with the possibility of a two-year term as an assistant, renewable twice.

Each mandate includes research assignments, teaching assignments and assignments related to the logistics of the Centre.

As part of his/her teaching assignments, the candidate will during their mandate deliver tutorials to a minimum of 5 groups of students, each 24 h/a. In 2023-2024, the tutorials relate to the courses:

- Introduction au droit (Profs Beno t Frydman and Isabelle Rorive);

- Possibly, another course contingent on the applicant s profile.

Each research assistant will have to assume their part of logistical and administrative tasks inherent to the life of a university research center. 

Research assignment consists in writing a PhD thesis project by the end of the academic year.

Their research subject will fall within one of the Perelman Centre's areas of research: global law and SMART law, comparative law, European law and comparative human rights law, history of ideas, interpretation and legal argumentation.

As the primary goal of the position is to write a  a doctoral thesis, work will be equally split between teaching and research activities. The assistants list of duties may be regularly reviewed.

Main Research Field : Global Law, SMART Law, Comparative Law, Legal Philosophy, Human Rights 

Required educational level: 

Applicants must hold a Master s degree in law (120 ECTS) or any degree recognized as equivalent. They must also meet entry requirements for the PhD program. Additional training in social sciences (philosophy, economics, sociology, political science, management, etc.) will be considered an advantage. Particular attention will be given to applicants with international educational background, as well as to academic performance.

Applicants must be able to conduct individual research and take part in the work of a transdisciplinary team. Excellent command of French and English is required.
