About the opportunity

The Daffodil Centre is a joint venture between the University of Sydney and the Cancer Council whose aim is to combine the strengths of both organisations towards a cancer-free future. We are looking for a Program Support Manager to join the organisation and work in partnership with the Daffodil Centre Manager to develop and implement solutions that enable the effective management and delivery of the Daffodil Centre strategy.

This is an excellent opportunity to draw on your extensive management experience to provide sound advice and recommendations, exercise independent judgement and apply professional know-how to assist management to deliver a procedural framework that supports the Daffodil Centre.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • work with the Centre Manager to develop and monitor a project plan that enables the successful operationalisation of the Daffodil Centre, meeting the expectations of the University and Cancer Council NSW, and ensuring the delivery of milestones as defined by the Joint Venture Agreement, and overseen by the Daffodil Centre Joint Steering Committee
  • develop and manage processes and procedures to capture and record outputs and outcomes by leveraging data from existing information systems from the University and the Cancer Council NSW. There will be particular focus on establishing procedures for the Centre that enable University processes to meet the needs of the Daffodil Centre and ensuring that these procedures are clearly documented for all stakeholders
  • work with key Centre stakeholders, develop and manage regular reporting requirements for both organisations (USYD and CCNSW) for the research program, consulting with relevant streams wherever necessary, for both internal and external audiences, to agreed and ad hoc timeframes
  • work with the Research Steering Group on the development and coordination of hub specific activities and operations, as well as whole of Centre strategic and planning initiatives such as annual team and strategy days. This will include oversight and secretariat support to highlight potential issues to the Steering Group and management
  • facilitate effective communication and good working relationships amongst key stakeholder groups, particularly supporting the linkages of key staff to deliver well-functioning operational solutions to complex issues
  • liaise with USYD centralised services to ensure effective delivery of services to the Daffodil Centre - including Research Unit, Finance, ICT, HR, Procurement and COS in line with University policy and procedure.

About you

  • proven ability to interpret and conceptualise complex policy frameworks, formulate strategies and action plans and to modify existing processes and methods as required to support research projects and achieve research translation
  • excellent time, organisational and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, solve varied and atypical problems, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes
  • proven experience in effectively managing a diverse group of key stakeholders on large or complex projects and the ability to develop/cultivate productive relationships with a range of partners
  • experience in designing corrective and action plans to address anticipated compliance concerns, facilitating changes to meet requirements and university
  • experience in a research-intensive environment, designing and implementing research infrastructure and support initiatives, particularly in a university and/or local health district setting to provide appropriate support for the continuous development and improvement of research performance
  • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with day to operational and strategic matters
  • experience with University systems Unibuy, Concur, Workday or similar is highly desirable.
