Post-doctoral Fellow/ Research Officer/ Research Assistant Professor in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention within the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.: 519685)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • work on the projects of Mental Health Initiatives Funding Scheme and Quality Education Fund (QEF) Thematic Network on Promoting Wellness in School
  • coordinate research design
  • liaise with community parties and institutions
  • plan, develop and conduct community-based interventions and training programmes for local social service practitioners and professionals
  • facilitate the collection of big data
  • oversee data collection and management
  • write scientific publications and reports
  • supervise junior research staff
  • perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • a Ph.D. degree in Social Sciences, Education, Social Work, Psychology, or related disciplines
  • strong leadership, self-motivated and responsible
  • an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese)
  • good interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • the ability to work on a tight schedule to meet project deadlines
  • the ability to work independently and in a team
  • familiarity with the local education system with experience working with schools and managing educational research projects as an advantage
  • knowledge of analysing quantitative research data using advanced statistical methods (e.g., MPlus, R) is preferred

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 1-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
