The University of Southampton is one of the world’s leading universities. We are consistently placed in the top 100 universities in the world by the QS World University Rankings. There are currently in excess of 24,000 students on campus in the UK. Using conventional business metrics, the University is a large enterprise with an annual turnover of over £500m and a staff establishment in excess of 5,000 FTE.
The Governance, Legal and Strategy Implementation Directorate is a recently formed Directorate at the University, with an exciting remit across Corporate Governance, Information Governance and Legal work alongside Strategy development and implementation. We have an exciting opportunity to join the Directorate to support a Strategic Major Project, Modernising the University’s Governance (MTG).
Working within the Corporate Governance team, this role will be responsible for operationally driving the Corporate Governance project, working with the Clerk to Council and the Executive Director and on the delivery of significant strategic outcomes. The MTG programme is one of the University’s largest major projects and within it, you will have the opportunity to shape and support new ways of working across the organisation.
As a member of the team, you will need a proven ability to build strong, productive relationships with a diverse stakeholder group – including academic and research staff, heads of the University’s professional services functions and key external suppliers and partners.
You should have previous experience of working in large project delivery, governance or information compliance and ideally within a higher education setting. You should also have a proactive and creative approach. Please see the job specification for full role details.
