Please find more information below and submit your application no later than 31 March 2023.

Role and salary

We are seeking for a highly motivated and ambitious Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team in the efforts to develop mathematical modeling techniques in the project Seismic full-waveform inversion with application to groundwater exploration , funded by the Academy of Finland. The Postdoctoral Researcher will work in the Computational Physics and Inverse Problems research group (see, http://www.uef.fi/inverse, for more details). The group is affiliated with the Centre of Excellence of Inverse Modeling and Imaging by the Academy of Finland. A person to be appointed to this position will work at the Department of Technical Physics in the Faculty of Science, Forestry and Technology, on the Kuopio campus.

Our objective is to apply the developed modeling techniques to the challenging problem of groundwater exploration, a resource that is vital to everyone. If you are a highly motivated person with the right skills and looking for a postdoctoral position, join us in this project. With enhanced imaging techniques, such as the ones researched here, the possibilities for and the accuracy in characterization and monitoring of groundwater storage are expected to increase substantially.
