A Research Engineer/ Research Assistant in the group of Pr. Baigl, at the Department of Chemistry, Ecole Normale Sup rieure Paris Universit PSL/Sorbonne Universit . The research in the group is highly interdisciplinary and spans across physical chemistry, soft matter, DNA nanotechnology and synthetic biology.

One area of focus is two dimensional self-assembly of colloids at liquid/air or liquid/liquid interface. We have recently developed an innovative method for the deposition of ordered colloidal particles on solid substrates. The resulting two-dimensional structures present a poly-crystalline organization, emitting a patchwork of colors when illuminated by white light. Their fabrication, based on the self-organization of tens of thousands of particles, has the advantage to be easily set-up while leading to unique and physically non-clonable objects. In the frame of a prematuration project supported by PSL Valo, we envisage their use as authentication labels for products that are victims of counterfeiting or require traceability.

To develop this application, we are looking for a research engineer to standardize the manufacturing process (composition of the colloidal dispersion, evaporation rate, substrate chemistry/topography) and to develop a robust reading of the light pattern reflected by the polycrystal for further comparison to a pattern database.

This project ranges from experimental investigations to obtain a comprehensive understanding of colloidal crystal formation and deposition, to prototyping of benchtop set-up for detection of structural colors, and associated image analysis. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the business maturation of the project and exchange with the valorization service of PSL University.

Un domaine d'int r t particulier est l'auto-assemblage bidimensionnel de collo des l'interface liquide/air ou liquide/liquide. Nous avons r cemment d velopp une m thode innovante pour le d p t de particules collo dales ordonn es sur des substrats solides. Les structures bidimensionnelles obtenues pr sentent une organisation polycristalline, mettant un patchwork de couleurs lorsqu'elles sont clair es par de la lumi re blanche. Leur fabrication, bas e sur l'auto-organisation de dizaines de milliers de particules, a l'avantage de pouvoir tre facilement mise en place tout en conduisant des objets uniques et physiquement non clonables. Dans le cadre d'un projet de pr maturation soutenu par PSL Valo, nous envisageons leur utilisation comme tiquettes d'authentification pour des produits victimes de contrefa on ou n cessitant une tra abilit .

Pour d velopper cette application, nous recherchons un ing nieur de recherche afin de standardiser le proc d de fabrication (composition de la dispersion collo dale, vitesse d' vaporation, chimie/topographie du substrat) et de d velopper une lecture robuste du motif lumineux r fl chi par le polycristal pour le comparer ensuite une base de donn es de motifs.

Ce projet va des investigations exp rimentales pour obtenir une compr hension compl te de la formation et du d p t des cristaux collo daux, au prototypage d'une installation de banc pour la d tection des couleurs structurelles, et l'analyse des images associ es. En outre, le candidat aura l'occasion de participer la maturation commerciale du projet et d' changer avec le service de valorisation de l'Universit PSL.
