­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Your New Role

As a strategic academic leader, the Director, Centre for Rural Health will drive success of the Centre’s multidisciplinary program of research, education, and training to address the health and workforce priorities of rural and remote Tasmania.

Leading the development of sustainable and transformative multidisciplinary rural health partnerships, the Director will collaborate with local government, health and medical employers and the community. By fostering opportunities for translating research into education and training, this role will inform workforce development and practice.

In conjunction with the development of initiatives to enhance individual research and academic performance, the Director will undertake high quality research and foster a culture of collective achievement. Joining the College of Health and Medicine as a key member of the School of Health Sciences’ leadership team, the Director will innovate to achieve social, ethical, and culturally sensitive solutions to complex health problems.

The aim of the Centre for Rural Health (CRH) is to improve access for rural and remote communities to appropriate health services by encouraging students to pursue a career in rural practice and supporting health care professionals working in these areas. The CRH is a multidisciplinary academic unit with a state-wide brief to improve rural health by supporting student clinical placements, conducting research, and engaging with the rural health workforce and health services.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

As a pioneering academic leader, your application will reflect a research record commensurate with Level E, demonstrated senior academic leadership capability and a substantial record in team building and fostering excellence in teaching, research and career development. Your innovative contributions to rural health will be demonstrated by a record of managing large, high-impact projects, high-quality publications, and excellence in HDR supervision.

Knowledge of relevant government policy and capacity to collaborate with government and industry organisations will be critical in addition to a record of developing and implementing strategic and operational plans, financial management and managing staff in an academic environment. To foster a culture of collective achievement, your tangible examples of shifting behaviours toward a sustainable and positive organisational culture will be highly regarded.

What’s on Offer?

This full-time fixed-term opportunity to December 2024 is available in either Launceston or Burnie, with relocation support available. Remuneration will be at Academic Level E, with a base salary between $188,051.00 - $191,812.00, plus 17% superannuation.
