Job Description

As a part of the university’s common curriculum, the Division of Industrial Design offers course modules on Design Thinking. These modules are compulsory for NUS students from the College of Design and Engineering, and the College of Humanities and Sciences, and will be delivered using a synchronous / asynchronous teaching model.

Design thinking is a series of processes that develops an ability to place a problem in context, to observe and listen, to think critically, and to collaborate effectively to produce a solution considering both form and function. Students will be exposed to the theory of design thinking and taught to apply it in both design and non-design related fields.

We are currently looking for dynamic and inspirational instructors and teaching assistants from all fields: from Design and Engineering, to the Sciences and Humanities. Most importantly, we want teammates that are passionate about teaching key concepts like Creativity and Empathy so that students can bring these skills to any job they apply for in the future.

This is a full-time post and offers a fantastic opportunity for professional development. Candidates will receive training in teaching and design facilitation. All course materials will be provided.

You will actively work with the Design Thinking program coordinator, a team of colleague instructors, and faculty content creators. You will be responsible for managing several classes of the same course module of approximately 25 students, facilitating fast paced tutorials shaped like Design Thinking workshops, as well as providing feedback, consultation and assessment after class hours. As a staff at the Division of Industrial Design, you will also provide support to various activities and service areas  The Division of Industrial Design is an equal opportunity employer and supports workplace diversity. 

Qualifications

Candidates are required to have a Bachelor’s degree or higher, with a keen interest in teaching. Fresh graduates, experienced teachers and design practitioners are welcomed. Remuneration will commensurate with experience and qualification.
