Job Description

Two Postdoctoral Researcher Positions in the group of Dr Ahmet Avsar at Material Science and Engineering Department of National University of Singapore are available to experimentally study all-electronic spin transport, magnon transport, magnetism and superconducting spintronics in novel quantum materials

The research involves advanced nanofabrication in state-of-the-art research facilities, and magneto-transport measurements utilizing low-temperature cryostats. It also includes data analysis, physical interpretation of the results and writing research articles. For more information about the projects and job description, please contact Dr Avsar (aavsar@nus.edu.sg).

Our National Research Foundation supported group has a ~ 100 m2 lab space with a full access to a clean room facility at the Graphene Research Centre (CA2DM) dedicated to 2D device physics and a cryofree low temperature high magnetic field measurement facility (magnetic fields up to 16T and base temperatures down to 20 mK). While the researcher will have the opportunity to start her/his experiments immediately, she/he is also expected to contribute into building our newly established laboratory.

Qualifications

A PhD in experimental physics or engineering is required. Enthusiasm for research, ability to think and work independently, willingness to support PhD and undergraduate students, excellent analytical skills and strong verbal and written communication skills are essential requirements.

Interested candidates only with a very strong background in these fields (spin transport, spin torque, superconductivity, twisted 2D materials, magnetic insulators), mesoscopic device fabrication & low-temperature magnetotransport measurements will be considered.

Covid-19 Message

At NUS, the health and safety of our staff and students are one of our utmost priorities, and COVID-vaccination supports our commitment to ensure the safety of our community and to make NUS as safe and welcoming as possible. Many of our roles require a significant amount of physical interactions with students/staff/public members. Even for job roles that may be performed remotely, there will be instances where on-campus presence is required.

Taking into consideration the health and well-being of our staff and students and to better protect everyone in the campus, applicants are strongly encouraged to have themselves fully COVID-19 vaccinated to secure successful employment with NUS.
