The School of Humanities and Social Sciences in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Greenwich is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor in International Relations. Based at the historic Old Royal Naval College in the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site, the School has a strong interdisciplinary ethos. We pride ourselves on the support we give to students throughout their studies, enhancing their knowledge, skill set, confidence, and employability.

We are looking for an Associate Professor and Academic Portfolio Leader in Politics and International Relations to provide leadership of learning, teaching and research activity in International Relations. The successful candidate will be expected to teach on our Politics and International Relations and Languages and International Relations undergraduate programmes, to provide operational leadership and line management for the Politics and International Relations programme team, to lead the development of postgraduate provision in International Relations and contribute to the successful delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. 

The role of the Academic Portfolio Lead is for an initial three years; after this period, the successful candidate can return to the Associate Professor role with different responsibilities and workload. The role holder's period of office may be extended beyond this initial three-year period subject to outstanding performance and review. 

The successful candidate should be actively engaged in research and knowledge exchange activities that will contribute to Faculty and University strategies, helping to develop our national and international profile. They will have strong stakeholder relationships at regional, national and international levels in the discipline, and should have expertise which complements and extends our current provision. 

We are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic individual, committed to excellence in teaching, research and student support, to lead the dedicated Politics and International Relations programme team. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and a proven track record of successfully delivering high-quality teaching and research.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in International Relations, Politics or a relevant Social Science discipline, Postgraduate teaching qualification or equivalent and Minimum of Fellow of HEA or significant teaching experience.
