About the Role

You will conduct cutting-edge research within the context of the ARC Linkage Project “RAINBOW - RAdIo Networks Based On distributed machine learning for situation aWareness.” This interdisciplinary, basic research project (TRL 1-2) brings together exciting research topics of security games, wireless communication networks, and distributed and adversarial machine and deep learning. While the research is conducted in collaboration with the project partner, Northrop Grumman Corporation, USA, all of the outcomes are openly shared in open repositories such as GitHub and published in international top-quality conferences and journals.

You are expected to use advanced mathematical analysis supported by state-of-the-art simulation-based experiments to obtain novel research results, which will then be published in relevant Tier-1 conferences and journals. You are either an expert on distributed machine learning excited about applying it to wireless networking domain and/or an expert on wireless networks excited about using modern machine learning methods in this domain in line with project objectives.

You will be located in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) and will be expected to be an active member of the Department. In addition, you will be closely collaborating with other researchers, especially with the other Chief Investigators of the project from the School of Computing and Information Systems (CIS). You will also have an opportunity to collaborate with PhD students working on the project from both departments. You may undertake small amounts of teaching and research supervision directly related to your area of research, as required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Independently planning and carrying out research on the nominated research project and working towards completion of the aims of the project.
  • Lead the preparation of manuscripts for publication in Tier-1 conferences and journals.
  • Liaise effectively with collaborators and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contributing to teaching, training, scientific mentoring, and supervision of students.
  • Actively participating in some outreach activities relating to research and scholarship.
  • Identifying sources of funding to support individual or collaborative projects, relating to teaching, research, and engagement practice in the discipline.

About You

To be successful in this role you will bring excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders (academic, administrative and support staff) courteously and effectively.

You will also have:
