We are seeking an inspiring and dynamic leader to take charge of one of Australia′s premier schools in Biomedical Sciences. In this role, you will need to demonstrate strategic acumen, a love of collaboration, and experience building interdisciplinary partnerships. You should have a deep understanding of contemporary issues in higher education and health, and a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and safety.

As the successful candidate, you′ll be responsible for leading an exciting and vibrant school, and you′ll work closely with staff across the university as well as with government, industry, community, and professional representatives. We′re looking for someone who can help sustain and enrich partnerships in line with the Faculty of Health's strategy. Our School of Biomedical Sciences offers cutting-edge undergraduate degree programs in Medical Laboratory Science and Biomedical Science, including double degrees with Law, Business and Mathematics. We emphasise practical skills as well as theoretical instruction in contemporary learning spaces and labs.

Our students gain valuable experience through Work Integrated Learning, Vacation Research programs, and postgraduate Honours options. We're expanding our postgraduate programs to bridge students to our research programs, including our postgraduate degree program in Diagnostic Genomics and a new vertical degree, B. Biomedical Science/Master of Data Analytics.

Our research program is structured around major Centres focused on inter-disciplinary research programs, providing world-class facilities and close alignment to healthcare, translational opportunities, and industry drivers. Current research areas include Cancer, Immunology and Infection Control, Genomics and Personalised Health, and Microbiome Research.

Our research-informed curriculum in Anatomical Sciences, Physiology, Cell and Molecular Biology, Human Biochemistry, and Infectious Diseases is supported by close inter-Faculty collaboration with other major research strengths including data science, cell and tissue engineering, and biomedical technology. You will demonstrate:

  1. Demonstrated strong leadership and organisational performance
  2. Experience in managing large-scale teams, resources and driving innovation
  3. International recognition for excellence in research and/or scholarship
  4. Proven ability to lead strategic learning, teaching and academic research
  5. Substantial skills in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and partnerships
  6. Effective response to contemporary issues in higher education and health
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive team culture in complex environments
