Job Description
Low-dimensional materials and devices lab (Lead PI: Asst. Prof. Denis Bandurin) is looking for a skilled and motivated postdoctoral researcher with a solid background in experimental condensed matter physics. The candidate will explore the exciting physics of novel quantum systems such as twist-controlled moire structures, topological insulators, two-dimensional superconductors, excitonic insulators, and more, and will participate in the development of practical devices. The work will involve the design and fabrication of devices out of van der Waals heterostructures as well as their exploration using variable-temperature (0.01-350 K) electron transport experiments in the presence of strong magnetic fields and THz radiation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Nanofabrication of devices out of low-dimensional materials and their heterostructures
- Carrying out the characterization of low-dimensional materials and van der Waals heterostructures
- Supervising graduate students
- Writing manuscripts and grant proposals
Requirements
- Ph.D. in condensed matter physics, and/or nanoscience Solid understanding of the physics of low-dimensional systems. Namely:
- Physics: electron transport, plasmonics, light-matter interaction, or thermal transport Systems: GaAs-based heterostructures, HgTe-based quantum wells, graphene, other 2DEGs, quantum dots, or nanowires
- Experience in cryogenic experiments (quantum transport, strong magnetic fields, light-matter interaction, etc) or nanofabrication (e-beam lithography, RIE, thin film deposition, SEM, Raman, AFM, etc.)
- Experience in THz-driven experiments will be advantageous
