Are you experienced in working within Information Governance? Are you looking for a role where you can contribute to an organisation that makes a real difference? Then look no further…….

We are currently recruiting an Information Governance Manager to  join our National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) Co-ordinating Centre to help us achieve our mission to improve the health and wealth of the nation through research.

Who are we?

We are an NIHR co-ordinating centre funded by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) hosted by the University of Southampton. We fund, enable and deliver world-leading health and social care research that improves people's health and wellbeing and promotes economic growth. We are also a major funder of applied health research in low and middle income countries.

What is the role?

In this role you will be responsible for the strategic direction and operational delivery of all aspects of Information Governance (IG) within our co-ordinating centre. You will also have responsibility and contribute to the local delivery of the NIHR IG ambitions. This role will include a variety of tasks including:

  • Leading on the delivery of effective and efficient IG activities
  • Develop IG Strategy in response to business need
  • Provide specialist advice - analysing information and data to inform your advice and dealing with Freedom of Information and GDPR requests
  • Develop and monitor Indicators relating to IG to measure local performance and provide relevant training across the organisation

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an individual with significant Information Governance specialist knowledge and experience. You will be confident in giving advice and able to influence and negotiate with multiple stakeholders.  You will be flexible in your approach to work and dedicated to ensuring best practice. Some of the additional key skills we think you need to be successful are:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of offering general business advice
  • Proven project and people management skills
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills to work to multiple-deadlines
  • Ability to plan and manage major new projects

How do we look after you?

They say a picture is worth a thousand words so rather than take our word for it why not listen to our staff about what it is really like working here:

We also know that the world of work has changed and so we are open to flexible working arrangements and work in a hybrid way with staff expected to attend our Southampton offices around 20% of the time.

We are proactive in fostering a culture of inclusion, respect, and equality of opportunity. We select candidates based on merit and ability. We welcome applications from all with an interest in the role and those who are committed to helping us create an inclusive work environment. This role is offered as a full time (35 hours per week) but we may consider part time to 0.8 WTE, please just state this in your application.

Application Procedure

The application deadline is midnight on the closing date stated above. If you need assistance, call Recruitment on +44 (0) 23 8059 2750, or email recruitment@soton.ac.uk. Quote advert reference 2195123VB on all correspondence.
