At the Faculty of Education in the Institute of Social Pedagogy, Social Work and Welfare Studies the

Chair (W2) of Social Pedagogy
with a focus on History and Theories of Social Education

is to be filled as of October 1, 2024

We expect you (m/f/x) to represent the discipline of social pedagogy with a focus on history and theories of social education in its full spectrum of research and teaching. This includes an empirically-oriented research focus on informal and non-formal education (processes) as well as their historical embedding in the context of social pedagogical theory formation. The chair is a key contributor to the networking of the Faculty of Education by playing a major role in teaching the fundamentals of social pedagogy in the bachelor's and master's degree programs of the Institute of Social Pedagogy, Social Work and Welfare Studies and the teaching degree program in the state examination for vocational schools with the vocational specialization in social as well as in other degree programs of the university (e.g. sociology). We also expect the chair holder to promote scientific qualification and to actively participate in the further development of the above-mentioned degree programs. Your participation in the interdisciplinary networks of TU Dresden and in academic governance as well as the ability and willingness to teach courses in English are required.

We are looking for a committed and responsible researcher who will inspire our students in teaching and help shape the profile of our faculty in a forward-looking way through pertinent research.

We expect an excellent university degree in educational science and/or social sciences (preferably with a focus on social pedagogy or similar), experience in research on learning and educational processes in social education as well as in the successful acquisition and realization of third-party funded projects. Applicants must fulfill the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG).
