Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for position of Research Assistant/Associate in the Department of Ophthalmology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Appointments will be made on a 1 year contract basis in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.

Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant/Associate (RA) will be responsible to, and work closely with their direct supervisor, and the lab’s Principal Investigator (PI) to provide research and administrative support to ensure the successful completion of projects in a timely manner.

Main duties and responsibilities

The candidate will support a multi-disciplinary team to conduct literature searches analyze sequence data, curate clinically relevant variants, design and perform experiments, write papers, etc.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of bachelor’s (honours) degree in either life sciences, biotechnology genomics, human genetics, cell biology, bioinformatics or related areas
  • Must have a strong understanding of genetics and familiarity with bioinformatics tools for genome analysis
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate well and work in a team
  • Experience in genomics, particularly next-gen sequencing and skills in programming would be an advantage
