Psychology Diversity Postdoctoral Fellows

The Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan invites applications for a combined postdoc and tenure track faculty appointment. Fellows will have up to 2 years to develop their independent research programs without teaching and service responsibilities before entering the tenure track.

Pending a positive review during the second year of the post-doctoral period, the fellow will be invited to move into a tenure track assistant professor position.

The fellow may affiliate with one of these eligible areas of Psychology: Biopsychology, Clinical, Developmental, Education and Psychology, Social Psychology, Gender and Feminist Psychology.

The Psychology Department is committed to providing mentoring and research resources that will support fellows in establishing independent research programs.

We seek applicants whose research, teaching, service, and/or advocacy will contribute to our diversity mission. We are particularly interested in scholars who are members of groups that have been historically underrepresented in Psychology or whose research interests bring a critical perspective to understanding the experiences of groups that are historically under-represented (by race, ethnicity, gender, social class, sexual orientation, etc.).

Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline by the time the position starts (September 1, 2017). Fellows will be expected to establish an independent research program but will be encouraged to establish productive collaborations with colleagues. Please submit a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, a statement of current and future research plans, a statement of teaching philosophy and experience, and evidence of teaching excellence. In addition, all applicants should prepare a brief (1 page or less) statement describing how they will contribute to the diversity mission of the Psychology Department, keeping in mind that service and advocacy regarding diversity will be considered important contributions to this mission.
Applicants should also request at least three letters of recommendation from referees. All materials should be uploaded by October 30, 2016 as one single PDF attachment to
