As part of our commitment to the continued expansion of medical, pharmaceutical and health sciences at Bangor University, we are embarking on the process of accreditation with the General Pharmaceutical Council of an MPharm Pharmacy degree programme. Our vision is to be recognised nationally and internationally as a leader and innovator in pharmacy education and research, and to develop professionals who can deliver quality, evidence-based, patient-centred pharmaceutical care.
This is a time of real opportunity for pharmacy education in North Wales and we are looking for an exceptional individual to lead this exciting endeavour as Professor (and Head) of Pharmacy. You will be an academic pharmacist with a higher degree, experience of leadership and management in pharmacy education, and a track record of research or scholarly activity in a relevant area(esp. pharmaceutics). You may have practiced as a senior pharmacist within a healthcare setting and, if applicable, continued NHS work will be re-charged. You will provide outstanding academic and strategic leadership to shape Bangor’s MPharm curriculum, gain General Pharmaceutical Council accreditation, and deliver the pharmacy degree. You will work collaboratively with partners including the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and Health Education and Improvement Wales.
The successful candidate will be expected to commence as soon as practical.
The post is full-time and permanent and is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure & Barring Service check.
This role will be located at our Bangor campus.
Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.
Applications will only be accepted via our on-line recruitment website, jobs.bangor.ac.uk. However, in cases of access issues due to disability, paper application forms are available by telephoning 01248 383865.
Interested applicants are invited to contact Professor Dyfrig Hughes, Professor in Pharmacoeconomics / Director of Research, e-mail: d.a.hughes@bangor.ac.uk
Closing date for applications: 26th March 2023.
