Description
Job Description

Georgetown University's Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center - Cancer Prevention and Control Program is seeking a Research Track, Non-Tenure Line Instructor specializing in simulation modeling to collaborate on several large NIH grants focused on modeling policy options for cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment in the US population over time. The candidate will become a member of the Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Modeling Network (CISNET). CISNET is a consortium of NCI-sponsored investigators that includes modeling to improve understanding of the impact of cancer control interventions (prevention, screening, and treatment) on population trends in incidence and mortality. These models are used to project future trends, aid in the development of optimal cancer control strategies, and guide public health research and priorities.

The CISNET Breast Working Group (BWG) consists of six modeling groups and a coordinating center; Georgetown is the home to one of the six modeling groups (Model GE). Model GE is funded to use computer modeling to inform translation of precision oncology evidence to clinical guidelines and policy by evaluating strategies to further decrease mortality, understand survivor quality of life, and reduce disparities. The simulation model provides a virtual laboratory to inform policy and clinical decisions by evaluating the impacts on mortality, quality of life, harms, and costs of disseminating these evolving precision cancer control paradigms.

The individual will collaborate on all aspects of Model GE research and publications. They will develop independent new research questions, continually broadening and updating knowledge on statistical theory and empirical practice, and develop small grant proposals.
