Description
The McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University invites applications for a tenure-line Assistant Professor of Public Policy starting in August of 2023. The position is open with respect to academic discipline and area of research. We welcome candidates with a background in economics, public policy, political science, sociology, psychology, data science, education, public administration, public management, law, history, demography, or related disciplines. The candidate must conduct research focused on public policy; policy areas could include criminal justice, international development, education, environment and energy, health, labor, immigration and migration, inequality, science and technology policy, social insurance, state and local policies, and taxation, among other topics.

We welcome applications from junior candidates who will have completed their Ph.D by August 2023, including doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, and early career assistant professors. Candidates should demonstrate potential for excellence in research, teaching, and service.

Applicants for this position may also be considered for the Provost's Distinguished Faculty Fellow (PDFF) program during their first year as an assistant professor. Fellows will have no teaching and service responsibilities during their first year so as to devote their full time effort to building their research program. The Provost's Distinguished Faculty Fellowship program is in its second year at Georgetown University. This program is designed to bring in a cohort of new tenure-line assistant professors from a wide range of backgrounds who demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in terms of their research, teaching, or service. Applicants who would like to be considered for the program should include a separate brief PDFF statement indicating their related interest under optional application materials.

Complete applications, including cover letter, curriculum vitae, important paper(s), and three letters of recommendation, must be received by November 30 to be guaranteed full consideration, but will be accepted until the position is filled. First-round interviews will take place over Zoom; campus visits will begin in January.
