Institute of Policy Studies

Institute of Policy Studies is an institutional research organization to incorporate a few research units with policy studies focus for promoting deep collaboration. The Institute plans to promote inter-university, inter-faculty and cross research centre research collaborations. Leading universities and research institutes like the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, the University of Bath, the University of Durham in the United Kingdom, Peking University, Zhejiang University, Sun Yat Sen University and the South China University of Technology in Mainland China, the International Christian University and Tohoku University in Japan, the National Cheng Chi University and the National Taiwan University in Taiwan, McMaster University and the University of Toronto in Canada, and the University of Wisconsin, Madison and the East-West Centre in the USA, just name a few here as our research partners.

General Requirements

The appointees should have (i) a PhD degree and demonstrate interdisciplinary scholarship and social impacts in one or more of the following areas: youth development and education, cultural and creative industry policies, digital media, urban governance and social and cultural innovation, and China Studies; (ii) strong fieldwork or survey experience in Mainland China, especially Greater Bay Area (GBA); (iii) a strong educational background and deep knowledge of academic administration in mainland China, and (iv) a good record of research papers and publications. Proficiency in both Mandarin and English is a must.

The appointees are requested to work at Lingnan University’s main campus and at Lingnan University Cultural Innovation and Creative Industry Research Institute based in Shenzhen Qianhai. The appointees are also expected to provide cultural policy analysis and organise international forums and youth development programs in GBA.

Appointment

The conditions of appointments will be competitive. The remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointees. Appointments will normally be made on a fixed-term contract of up to two years. Experienced Postdoctoral Fellow may carry a functional title of Research Assistant Professor.
