Research Assistant / Associate (Aerospace Propulsion)

Job Description

The Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University is seeking a research assistant/associate in the area of aerospace propulsion. The research assistant/associate should be knowledgeable of aerospace propulsion technologies. The candidate should be able to test and/or simulate aerospace propulsion performance such as, but not limited to, a novel propellant and its system, space chemical propulsion, micro propulsion, and electric propulsion at system and component levels. The preferred candidate should have demonstrated experience in the field of aerospace propulsion and have a master’s degree(or preferably a doctorate) in a relevant field.

Minimum Qualification

The successful candidate is required to have

• Master’s or Ph.D. degree in aerospace, mechanical, chemical engineering, or relevant disciplines.
• Effective written and verbal communications skills, sufficient for high quality technical writing and presentation.
• Motivated self-start mindset.
• Flexible approach and initiative in executing the role.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team.

Preferred Qualification

• Sound knowledge and understanding of aerospace propulsion systems.
• Hands-on experience in space chemical/electric propulsion, experimental/numerical fluid dynamics, combustion, and propulsion including high pressure combustion tests, data acquisition system, and data analysis.
• Proven record of journal publications and conference presentations, or industrial experience.
• Demonstrable willingness to support work in the laboratory.
• Be adaptable and flexible to the possible changes associated with research demands.
