Research Assistant - Free Range Poultry Unit Maintenance

The successful candidate will technically assist the ASPIRE Research Institute for Food Security in the Drylands. This institute features a comprehensive and highly interdisciplinary R&D program and provides an international collaboration platform for researchers and stakeholders of the public and private food and agricultural sector. It strives to generate knowledge and technological innovation in support of food security in the UAE and other arid environments of the world. As part of one of its research themes, the institute is aiming to collect, characterise and genetically improve poultry breeds native to the UAE. In support of this research, we seek to hire a technical research assistant with experience and interest in free-range poultry farming. The successful candidate is expected to support the establishment and maintenance of a free range breeding and production unit for poultry native to the UAE. This involves daily cleaning and maintenance, functionality tests, and observation of animal performance and welfare.

The working place is the UAEU Research Farm in Al Foah.

The position is for nine months with the option of extension on an annual basis.

Minimum Qualification

High school degree with basic English communication skills and a good general technical understanding.

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience

Experience with poultry farming or agricultural work in the UAE is much appreciated. A UAE driving license and flexibility with respect to the working time are of great advantage.
