EHS Compliance Senior Specialist (Environment Health and Safety)

Operational Responsibilities

• Assist in the execution of EHS projects, including but not limited to performing EHS audits, developing EHS standards and procedures, preparing permit applications and maintaining compliance with permits, preparing EHS plans etc.
• Conduct site visits to make observations and gather information to evaluate compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations, permits and plans.
• Inspect waste disposal and sewage treatment facilities to ensure these facilities conform to health and safety regulations.
• Assist in evaluation and development of environmental management systems.
• Carry out the EHS Internal Audit as per “Audit Checklist” for the activity to be audited.
• Report the EHS audit findings of both non Conformities in the prescribed format of “Improvement Action Report” & observations if any.
• Implement the necessary corrective action on raised suggested observations / improvements.
• Initiate and carry out corrective action without undue delay to close out reported audit findings.
• Maintain related corrective action records and audit findings.
• Report the EHS audit findings of both non Conformities & observations to the Manager.
• Carry out follow up of EHS Audit and recommend closure after verifying the implemented corrective actions.
• Provide safety-related training to internal staff and external campus service contractors.
• Assist in creating and updating environmental / safety plans and permits.
• Assist in other environmental due diligence and assessment-related work.
• Ensure that all services and operations are in compliance with relevant EHS legal and other requirements.
• Initiate essential changes in the operations whenever the legal and other requirements get updated.
• Keep the relevant EHS and other requirements information up-to-date.
• Ensure that all KU Departments have adequate knowledge of relevant EHS legal requirements as applicable and any other changes that have been made to those requirements already identified.
• Adhere to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
• Coordinate with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor degree Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent. OSHA, British Safety Council, Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or similar certification desirable

Required Experience

• Expats: A minimum 7-9 years of relevant experience.
• UAE Nationals: A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience
