The Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) at New York University Abu Dhabi invites applicants to apply for the open Research Engineer position.

CAIR invites qualified applicants with at least a Masters’ degree or higher with several years of industrial or academic experience in the areas of electrical and/or computer engineering, or related field to apply. The research engineer will work closely with the postdocs and the faculty in the projects in CAIR to assist in the development of: a) collaborative multi-robot swarms, b) environment perception and distributed SLAM, c) deep learning in safety and security, d) collaborative brain-machine intelligence, and e) robotic human augmentation. The RE/CE should have background in design and building Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), instrumentation, hardware design, customize programs to run in various computer architectures including AVR, ARM, FPGAs, and GPUs (mostly NVIDIA-based), and integrate specialized sensors such as RGB-D, RGB-T, sound recorder, stereoscopic cameras, spherical cameras, communication devices and others with CPUs and GPUs encountered in robotic systems. The Research Engineer should have knowledge of real-time embedded system programming, harness design, and wiring standards. A solid competency with the standard implementation tools used in robotic and embedded systems (e.g., C, C++, Linux, MATLAB, Python, Deep Learning software, Robot Operating System) is desired.

The candidate is expected to work in a highly collaborative multi-disciplinary environment with other post-doctoral associates, PhD and undergraduate students, as well as faculty members. The applicants are also expected to have strong communication and writing skills.
