Professorship (W2) (6 years/tenure track)
of Educational Psychology

commencing as soon as possible.

The position holder is expected to strengthen the educational psychology perspective in the focus area "Personalized Diagnostics and Intervention" at the Department of Psychology.

We are looking for a person with research expertise in the field of diagnostics and analysis of individual differences in the contexts of school and teacher education from the perspective of educational psychology (e.g., the assessment of learning processes, adaptive learning environments, diagnostic skills of teachers, test development, data-based interventions and behavioural promotion in the school context). Knowledge of and skills in using modern methodological approaches and technologies are desired (e.g., experience sampling, extended reality, learning analytics).

In teaching, the main focus of the professorship is on teacher education programs, especially in the field of school psychology. In addition, courses in the B.Sc. Psychology and in the M.Sc. Psychology: Learning Sciences are part of the professorship's area of responsibility.

LMU Munich seeks to appoint a highly qualified junior academic to this professorship and, therefore, especially encourages early-career scholars to apply. Prerequisites for this position are a university degree and a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification. With an excellent record in research and teaching to date, prospective candidates will have demonstrated the potential for an outstanding academic career.

Relevant publications in peer-reviewed international scientific journals, experience related to proposal writing, implementation and coordination of research projects, as well as relevant teaching experience in educational psychology or school psychology are expected.

The initial appointment will be for six years. After a minimum of three years, it can be converted into a permanent position pending a positive evaluation of the candidate’s performance in research and teaching as well as his or her personal aptitude and if all legal conditions are met.

Under the terms of the “LMU Academic Career Program”, in exceptional cases and subject to outstanding performance in research and teaching, the position may be converted from a W2 into a W3 Full Professorship at a later date.

Our department embraces the values of open science and strives for replicable and reproducible research. We support transparent research with Open Data, Open Material, and pre-registrations. Candidates are asked to describe in what way they have already pursued and plan to pursue these goals.

LMU Munich makes a point of providing newly appointed professors with various types of support, such as welcoming services and assistance for dual career couples.

LMU Munich is an equal opportunity employer. The University continues to be very successful in increasing the number of female faculty members and strongly encourages applications from female candidates. LMU Munich intends to enhance the diversity of its faculty members. Furthermore, disabled candidates with essentially equal qualifications will be given preference.

Please submit your application comprising a curriculum vitae, documentation of academic degrees and certificates as well as a list of publications and an overview of teaching activities no later than April 14th, 2023 to Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Leopoldstr. 13, D-80802 Munich, Germany.  Applications can be also submitted by e-mail to dekanat11@lmu.de.
