FACULTY POSITION IN CHINESE HISTORY (MODERN CHINA), DEPARTMENT OF CHINESE STUDIES, NUS
The Department of Chinese Studies, National University of Singapore, is one of the leading institutions in the world in the fields of Chinese Studies and Chinese Language and a major centre in Southeast Asia. We invite applications for the post of Assistant Professor in Chinese History (Modern China) on the tenure track.
Applicants for this position should have a PhD in East Asian Studies or History, or any other relevant discipline. Priority will be given to candidates who specialize in the social and economic history of modern China in a global context after 1949. Scholars who can contribute to interdisciplinarity in research or teaching are particularly encouraged to apply.
The successful applicant will be expected to have a strong commitment to a) teach their subfield or related subjects at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels; b) provide supervision to undergraduate and graduate students and c) undertake research in their subfield or related areas; as well as d) play an active role in the Department’s curriculum and development. S/he should possess native-speaking, or near native-speaking, competence in both Mandarin and English.
