Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Applications are invited for a 1-year Research Fellow in the School of Psychology and the Surrey Business School at the University of Surrey to work full-time on an EPSRC-funded project “AP4L: Adaptive PETs to Protect & emPower People during Life Transitions”. The aim of the project is to undertake research in online privacy & vulnerability challenges that people face when going through major life transitions such as relationship breakdowns; LBGT+ transitions or transitioning gender; entering/leaving employment in sensitive sectors such as the Armed Forces; and developing a serious illness or becoming terminally ill. Our central goal is to develop Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs) to protect and empower people during these transitions. You will be working as part of a large multi-disciplinary collaboration between the Universities of Surrey, Cambridge, Chester, Edinburgh, Strathclyde and QMUL.
The post holder will be responsible for testing the Privacy Enhancing Technologies. This will include designing and running trials, and analysing data using a range of behavioural measures. You may work with participants experiencing major life transitions and external stakeholder organisations who support and advocate for these vulnerable groups.
The successful applicant is expected to have a PhD in Psychology or Behavioural science or related discipline (gained or near completion) and have knowledge and experience of running behavioural studies.
The successful post holder is expected to start on 20th March 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter and will be based jointly in the School of Psychology and the Surrey Business School, reporting to Dr Adrian Banks & Dr Irina Cojuharenco. For any informal enquiries about the position, please contact Dr Adrian Banks (a.banks@surrey.ac.uk).
The role is a fixed term contract for up to 12 months.
The closing date for applications is 1st March 2023. We anticipate that interviews will be held on Thursday 9th March 2023.
