This is a fantastic opportunity to join the University of Southampton, one of the UK’s leading research Universities. We are seeking to appoint a Fixed-Term full-time Accountancy Assistant to work for 12 months as part of a professional team within the Finance, Planning & Analytics directorate. The Team is responsible for key aspects of research funding finance services across the whole University. The successful candidate will be part of a close-knit team where the emphasis is on supporting each other and providing an excellent service to our world-leading academics.

This role will ideally suit someone who is highly numerate with an aptitude for finance. The successful candidate will support research finance and administration following legal and financial guidelines. They will provide support on costing research applications, setting up processes for new research awards, financial reporting of active awards, liaising with auditors, and communicating with academics and other professional services colleagues. 

The successful candidate will be diligent, proactive and analytical. The successful candidate must have good communication skills and be able to manage their own workload, prioritising tasks and working to deadlines. The successful applicant will be comfortable learning new IT systems and competent at using Microsoft Excel. Candidates with prior accounting knowledge and experience will be preferred. You will use the University accounting and costing systems for which training will be provided.
