Research Fellow (Science / Engineering / Aerosol and Air Quality Sciences)

Job Description

The job holder is to work with PI to conduct research characterizing airborne pollutants in urban environment.  The responsibility includes planning and conduct experiments, data analyses, progress reporting, report writing, etc.  Being an all-rounded team player and a fast learner with strong initiative and ownership of the research project are needed.  Applicants who are fast learners with strong record in quality scientific publications, professional research (both verbal and written) communication and experiences in project management will receive more favorable consideration. 

Qualifications

One or more of (but not limited to) the following:

  • Experiences of data analyses and operation of aerosol mass spectroscopy (AMS)
  • Experiences of coordinating and conducting field studies of aerosols & VOCs, including sampling of source emissions
  • Experiences of speciating organic compounds in aerosols via off-line various chromatography (e.g., GC-MS-MS, LC-MS-MS)
  • Experiences of characterizing airborne pollutants using various laboratory instruments
  • Experiences of applying Pythons to chemical reaction model simulation of ambient chemical reactions
  • Sufficient experiences in applications of Python functions of matplotlib, numPy, pandas, statsmodels,etc
  • Modeling chemical reactions of airborne pollutants through implicit modules
  • Experiences of managing, coordinating and achieving project deliverables, including planning, conducting & coordinating experiments, data analyses, progress reporting & presentation, reporting writing, etc
  • Fast learner capable of conducting independent research and proficient in rigorous literature search, review & summary
  • Productive in quality scientific research publications
  • Proven rounded and effective team player with strong initiative and ownership of the research project
