About the opportunity

We have an exciting Global Mobility Consultant role within the University of Sydney's in-house Immigration and Global Mobility team. Our goal is to provide seamless immigration and global mobility service delivery to internal stakeholders, new hires, prospective staff, and international visitors to the University.

We are seeking a passionate and proactive Global Mobility Consultant to continue to drive our ongoing uplift in Global Mobility service delivery at the University.

Your consultative approach will be essential in providing a personalised client experience, tailored to a range of personal and professional considerations for prospective candidates. These could range from individual family circumstances, to living arrangement preferences, schooling for dependents, visa support, pets, shipping, flights etc. You will utilise your highly developed relationship-building skills when dealing with external entities such as government agencies, temporary accommodation providers and shipping agencies.

This position will see to a range of duties, such as:

  • provide expert advice in relation to relocation policies, relevant salary packaging obligations, cost projections and procedures to facilitate the onboarding of new staff members/visitors
  • support the Manager, Immigration and Global Mobility with process improvement initiatives to enhance advisory services
  • responsible for the end-to-end relocation process of all new hires to the University that require relocation support from interstate and overseas.
  • promote consistency by collating information and creating standardised documents to guide hiring managers and candidates in best practice decision making
  • identify and resolve relocation/mobility issues in collaboration with the University and external providers, e.g., tax advisor
  • provide support to the Immigration Consultant during peak processing periods
  • delivering information sessions on global mobility support offered at the University and its policy requirement, to various stakeholders and clients across the organisation.

About you

We are seeking a tenacious, solutions-oriented Global Mobility Consultant who can demonstrate:

  • strong and significant expertise across a broad range of Australian global mobility aspects, specifically relocation, salary packaging and taxation
  • proven experience in managing and facilitating inbound relocation activities with service providers and individuals relocating from interstate and overseas to Sydney
  • understanding of Australian tax regulations, specifically fringe benefit tax provisions that apply to relocation.
  • have exceptional attention to detail and time management skills
  • highly developed stakeholder engagement skills for the purpose of liaising with internal and external stakeholders (including service providers) on complicated relocation matters
  • excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
  • generalist knowledge of overseas markets and overseas tax components (UK, USA, and China) is desirable; however, it is not a requirement
  • knowledge and experience with Australian visa types and work rights are highly advantageous
  • self-motivated, proactive, and team player with the willingness to support the Immigration Consultant and Manager, Immigration and Global Mobility, where required.
