The Role

  • Fixed term (up to December 2024), Full time (part time hours considered)
  • $102,486 to 121,504 pa FTE (plus 17% superannuation)
  • Deniliquin or surrounding area

A unique opportunity exist in the Three Rivers Department of Rural Health to support the development of quality rural clinical training experiences for health professional students.

Take the lead in building and maintaining relationships with community and clinicians, and develop networks to ensure the continued success of students in rural clinical placements whilst developing capacity for quality clinical teaching in existing and new settings.

The position would ideally suit an individual with a clinical background or current registration in health, with a passion to develop educational material, and previous experience supervising health students in work integrated learning.

This position is funded under the Australian Governments Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program.

To be successful you will have:

  • A doctoral or Masters qualification appropriate to a relevant health discipline or equivalent clinical experience, accreditation and standing.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the discipline gained through industry experience and/or scholarly activities or similar, including a record of research/creative works or professional activity relevant to the discipline.
  • Evidence of and a demonstrated commitment to the delivery of high-quality student-centred learning and teaching.
  • Commitment to stakeholder and community engagement with the interests of bringing benefits to teaching, placements, course profile, scholarship and research.

The Three Rivers Department of Rural Health (DRH) is based at Charles Sturt University in the Riverina and Central West region of New South Wales. Three Rivers DRH aims to support the growth and development of the rural health workforce through supporting students in rural clinical and academic experiences and rural health research.

The key activities of the DRH are:

  • Raising the aspiration and success of Indigenous and rural students from the outer regional and remote footprint of the DRH;
  • Growing capacity for collaborative quality community-led rural clinical training, particularly in smaller regional communities and across expanded practice areas such as disability, aged care, mental health and primary care;
  • Evaluating the activities of the DRH, researching rural health workforce capabilities and trialling approaches to service delivery to enhance the health of rural Australians; and
  • Fostering the development of future rural health capabilities by developing new multidisciplinary resources and training programs.
