Post-doctoral Fellow/Senior Research Assistant (several posts) in the Sau Po Centre on Ageing within the Faculty of Social Sciences (to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)

Sau Po Centre on Ageing is a rapidly expanding centre that aims to become a leading research centre on gerontology in Greater China and the Asia Pacific region. Post-doctoral Fellow applicants should have a PhD in gerontology, psychology, social sciences, health science, or a related discipline, with at least 3 years’ research experience. Senior Research Assistant applicants should possess a Master’s degree or above in gerontology, psychology, social sciences, health science or a related discipline with at least 3 years’ research experience. They should have experience managing large databases and conducting advanced statistical analysis of treatment or service outcomes. Experience of developing and validating psychometric scales, evaluating complex interventions, and participating in research projects related to family caregivers of older adults and/or cost-effectiveness evaluation will be an advantage. They should also have a good track record of social science research outputs appropriate for the level of training. They should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (fluency in Putonghua would be an advantage), familiarity with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, Stata) and MS Office applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.), and good interpersonal and organizational skills.

The appointees will conduct high-impact research related to family caregivers of older adults and manage a territory-wide caregiver support project. They will use various approaches to explore project data to evaluate the outcomes of various interventions. The appointees will work with team members and international experts to assist the Principal Investigator, Professor Vivian W. Q. Lou, to conduct research in relations to family caregivers and/or gerontechnology; collect, compile and analyse data; review literature; organize project activities; coordinate the publication of protocols; liaise with the project team to develop a website and a web-based platform; edit and proofread materials; manage project expenses; provide research support, and perform other duties as assigned. The appointees will also have opportunities to earn publication authorships and receive other professional development support. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
