The Role

Seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to assist with research in nanoparticles-based brain drug delivery for brain diseases (such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Brain cancer and Motor Neuron Disease) therapy, with a focus upon the evaluation of novel nanoparticle delivery systems that can cross the Blood Brain Barrier for targeted drug delivery into the brain.

We have a long-standing track record and have well established research structure and streams in nanoparticle-based brain drug delivery systems for brain disease preclinical therapy evaluation, and work cross the ARC Centre of Excellence in Nanoscale Bio photonics, Macquarie Dementia Research Centre and Macquarie centre for MND research.

The focus of this position will be in the developing the developing of smart nanoparticle as new-generation brain delivery systems into mRNA/siRNA/CRISPR/antibody delivery applications for neurodegenerative diseases.

About You

This incumbent will have an understanding of advanced delivery system and siRNA therapy will have the following responsibilities:

• Contributing to the day-to-day running of experiments and towards research in design and developing, evaluating nanoparticle-based brain drug delivery system for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease
• Contributing towards the supervision of PhD students
• Contributing towards the design and execution of experiments, analysis of experimental data and the preparation of scholarly publications
• Participating in the preparation of research funding applications from internal or external sources

Essential:

• PhD in a relevant organic chemistry or smart biomaterials -related discipline with relevant experience conducting research in drug delivery.
• Proven ability to conduct high quality research, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, and a history of research excellence evidenced by prizes or awards, relative to experience.
• Ability to work independently and in collaboration with team members.
• Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of innovative research.

Desirable:

• Knowledge and experience in relevant experimental techniques that may include blood-brain barrier models, brain drug delivery or transgenic mouse models of neurodegenerative diseases.
• Demonstrated experience working in a research laboratory including knowledge of relevant regulations and guidelines
