- Level 9, full-time and ongoing appointment
- Base salary range: Level 9 $119,390 - $126,335 p.a. plus 17% superannuation

About the team
The Office of Research provides professional and expert support services to facilitate research excellence and knowledge transfer at the University. It is also at the forefront in executing the University’s research strategy. The Major Research Initiatives team sits within the Research Enterprise office to respond to strategic research opportunities.
About the opportunity
In this position, you will have a significant role in managing a team that solicits external research funding from major initiatives. You will also provide key strategic planning and direction and have a role in establishing, developing and influencing, policies, procedures and processes to ensure the efficient functioning of the area. You will have team of Senior Advisers (Major Research Initiatives) who you will supervise while working closely with the Deputy Director (Research Enterprise).
About you
With exceptional leadership skills, and experience managing large complex projects, you will actively work with researchers and key stakeholders of the University to expand and diversify the research income base of the University.
To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:
- A relevant degree qualification or equivalent competency in a science, technology, engineering mathematics or HASS discipline
- Substantial and extensive management experience relating to researchers across all disciplines and in providing advice to staff at all levels
- Experience working with relevant industry and/or government bodies
- Leadership experience with an ability to work as part of a distributed team, and effectively motivate and influence a team to achieve goals
- Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated expertise in research funding, including Australian Government expectations around innovation and research outcomes and the National Innovation and Science Agenda
- Knowledge and demonstrated expertise in relevant higher education policies, including current issues associated with research, including the National Innovation and Science Agenda
