The School of Human Sciences is based within the fantastic and newly refurbished Dreadnought building on the World Heritage site at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich. These facilities, including bespoke new laboratories, are part of significant investment in the School and an aspect of our long-term plan to build internationally leading research and teaching in the Faculty. As part of this investment we are looking to appoint three dynamic and engaged public health professionals to help grow and develop the School. We will be developing our portfolio of postgraduate taught programmes, including consolidating the success of our existing MSc In Global Public Health and MSc Global Health Management programmes. This compliments and extends our existing provision in, for example, our accredited BSc H Public Health programme.
You will be joining a School and Faculty that is building a strong interdisciplinary and cross-professional approach to solving the grand challenges facing society. We are looking for colleagues who will have a commitment to maintaining and building the University’s excellence in teaching and learning, and who are doing research that has the potential for significant long-term academic and societal impact.
We welcome applications from individuals with an interest in any area of Public Health. This reflects our already strong coverage of core curriculum areas and clear research interest groups. We would particularly encourage applications from those with an interest in one or more of the following areas:
- Housing Policy and Practice
- Environmental Health / Health Protection
- Leadership and Management of Health Systems
As a Faculty we also welcome candidates whose research work will resonate with one or more new interdisciplinary Faculty Research Centres within the newly formed Institute for Lifecourse Development:
- Centre for Chronic Disease and Ageing
- Centre for Exercise, Activity and Rehabilitation
- Centre for Inequalities
- Centre for Mental Health
- Centre for Professional Workforce Development
- Centre for Thinking and Learning
- Centre for Vulnerable Children and Families
The School has an active and growing research base and performed well in REF2021, particularly in the area of reach environment. The University is currently rated TEF silver, reflecting our excellent teaching and learning, and we have realistic aspirations to achieve a TEF rating of ‘gold’.
We are looking to attract individuals with a strong profile who are able to demonstrate commitment to teaching excellence and innovation and want to develop their record of research. Candidates would be expected to have a PhD. All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to developing their profile of international-quality publications, together with appropriate experience of teaching in the HE sector for this
