We are recruiting for a full-time permanent Student Disability Advisor to work in the Student Disability & Inclusion team within Student Services.
The Student Disability & Inclusion team is responsible for implementing reasonable adjustments for students studying with us who have declared a disability, long-term health condition, mental health condition or a specific learning difference. We are a friendly and supportive team and value the unique contribution that everybody brings to the team.
As a Student Disability Advisor, you will be responsible for providing high-quality administrative support to the team and handling enquiries from students and staff in relation to student disability.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Responding to email and telephone enquiries from existing and speculative students
- Assisting students through booking student support appointments
- Processing a range of student information in relation to student disability
- Providing administrative support to the wider team as required
You will be interacting with students and will need to demonstrate excellent customer service, time management, and communication skills. You will also need the ability to liaise with a variety of teams within the University in a professional manner. You will be strong in administration skills and able to pick up new software packages easily, be competent in the use of spreadsheets and able to use the Microsoft Office package to a high standard. You will be based within Student Services and a knowledge of higher education and student support is therefore desirable.
Please note, being able to work flexibly is a requirement of this role; you will work both virtually and in a large open-plan office and you will be part of a rota that operates from 9am-5pm across weekdays; occasional weekend and evening work is required for Open Days and Transition events for new students
For an informal discussion of the job role, please contact Mark Barrow, Disability Co-Ordinator M.A.L.Barrow@soton.ac.uk.
An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
