About the Role
We seek candidates with an expertise in any aspect of the literary/ textual cultures of the British Isles between c.700 and c.1500 who are research active with evidence of excellence and innovation in teaching and learning.
You will be expected to
- contribute to existing modules and develop undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, both within and beyond your specialist area of expertise. (Current modules include English on the Move; Literary Transformations; Invention of English Literature; Chaucer and his World; Approaches to Shakespeare).
- supervise and examine undergraduate, taught postgraduate, and research postgraduate theses.
- contribute to and lead on the strategic development of undergraduate and postgraduate curricula.
- in English, aligning with School, Faculty, and University Education strategy.
- take on administrative, leadership and management roles in the Department, School and Faculty.
- maintain an excellent research profile nationally and internationally, through regular peer-reviewed publications, dissemination by other means, and internal and external collaborations; and help develop the profile and impact of medieval literary and cultural studies at Southampton.
- contribute to the Departmental, Faculty and School research culture, including Southampton’s Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Culture.
